Student Code of Conduct
Purpose:
The Student Code of Conduct establishes expectations for professional behavior, communication, and respect throughout the Welding Foundations & Industrial Safety program. This policy ensures a positive, safe, and productive learning environment where all students can succeed. It applies to all classroom, shop, and school‑related activities.
Professional Behavior Expectations
Students are expected to conduct themselves in a manner consistent with workplace standards in the welding and industrial trades.
This includes:
- Maintaining a respectful and cooperative attitude
- Following instructor directions promptly
- Participating fully in training activities
- Keeping language professional and appropriate
- Treating classmates, instructors, and visitors with courtesy
- Demonstrating reliability and accountability
Professional behavior is part of the training and is evaluated throughout the program.
Respectful Communication
Students must communicate respectfully at all times. This includes:
- Listening without interrupting
- Asking questions appropriately
- Expressing concerns calmly and professionally
- Avoiding profanity, insults, or aggressive language
- Using constructive communication when giving or receiving feedback
Disrespectful communication undermines the learning environment and may result in disciplinary action.
Classroom Conduct
Shop Conduct
Students must:
- Arrive prepared and ready to learn
- Stay engaged during instruction
- Avoid side conversations during demonstrations
- Keep cell phones silenced and put away unless permitted
- Follow all classroom rules and procedures
Disruptive behavior interferes with learning and will not be tolerated.
In addition to safety rules, students must:
- Maintain focus and avoid distractions
- Keep work areas clean and organized
- Use tools responsibly
- Respect shared equipment and space
- Follow all posted shop rules
Professional shop behavior mirrors real‑world expectations.
Attendance and Punctuality
Academic Integrity
Students are expected to:
- Arrive on time
- Attend all scheduled hours
- Communicate absences appropriately
- Return from breaks promptly
Chronic lateness or absenteeism is considered unprofessional conduct.
Students must:
- Complete their own work
- Participate honestly in evaluations
- Avoid misrepresenting skills or progress
- Follow all testing and competency procedures
Cheating or falsifying information is grounds for disciplinary action or dismissal.
Respect for Property
Prohibited Conduct
Students are expected to treat all school property, personal property of others, and the learning environment with respect.
- Use school equipment and resources responsibly.
- Do not damage, deface, or misuse property.
- Report any damage to school property immediately.
- Respect the personal belongings of others.
Misuse or damage to property may result in disciplinary action and restitution.
The following behaviors are strictly prohibited:
Harassment, bullying, or discriminatory behavior
- Threatening or aggressive actions
- Intimidation or coercion
- Dishonesty or falsification of records
- Possession of weapons on school property
- Use of drugs or alcohol during training
- Any conduct that disrupts instruction or compromises safety
These behaviors may result in immediate dismissal.
Technology and Device Use
Breaks and Common Areas
Students must:
- Keep phones put away during instruction and shop time
- Avoid recording instructors or students without permission
- Use school computers or devices only for training purposes
Unauthorized recording or misuse of technology is prohibited.
Students must:
- Use break areas respectfully
- Clean up after themselves
- Return to training on time
- Avoid disruptive behavior in shared spaces
Professional conduct applies throughout the facility.
Social Media Conduct
Disciplinary Actions
Students must not:
- Post confidential information about classmates or staff
- Share photos or videos from the shop without permission
- Engage in online harassment or misconduct involving the school
Social media behavior that harms the school or training environment may result in disciplinary action.
Violations of the Student Code of Conduct may result in:
- Verbal warning
- Written warning
- Removal from class or shop
- Suspension
- Dismissal from the program
Severe violations may result in immediate dismissal.
